Privacy Policy and Terms of Use

Language: English
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the Psiiu app, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following personal data:
- Name: Used to identify you within the app.
- Email address: Used for communication and account recovery.
- IP address and approximate location inferred from it: Used for authentication, security, and diagnostics. Coordinates may also be processed when a location message is sent.
- Profile photo: Optional account personalization.
- Invitations: Your name and profile photo, if any, may appear on the invitation page to anyone who receives or forwards your link, even without a Psiiu account.
- About information: Optional account personalization.
- Device identifiers and information, including notification tokens: Used to maintain sessions and deliver alerts and messages. The notification provider also records interactions with notifications to measure delivery and opens.
- Usage events: The app sends one event when the introductory screen is shown and another after registration is completed. These requests do not include names, email addresses, or conversation contents in the request body, but the receiving server may receive the IP address and connection metadata.
2.1 Location Information
During authentication, we use your IP address to estimate a general region, such as a country. If a location message is sent, we process the coordinates it contains to deliver it to its recipients. The app includes notification components that may process location according to their configuration and device permissions. You can manage those permissions in your device settings.
2.2 Media Files and Messages
Psiiu processes messages, voice notes, photos, videos, and files to deliver them to the conversations you choose. Ordinary messages and attachments pass through our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted. When enabled for a conversation, Military Mode encrypts the text of a message on the device before sending it, using a password the recipient must also know. It does not encrypt attachments, participant identities, timestamps, or other conversation metadata. Anyone with the direct link to an uploaded file may open it, including outside the app. Deleting a message in the app does not necessarily erase copies other people have already received.
3. How We Use Data
- Operate the service: Create accounts, authenticate sessions, and deliver messages, invitations, files, alerts, and calls.
- Communicate: Send notifications about messages, alerts, calls, and service updates. A notification may include a message preview, depending on device settings.
- Security and support: Diagnose failures, investigate misuse, and respond to users' requests.
- Preferences: Apply the profile, presence, and notification options you choose in the app.
- Basic metrics: Count introductory-screen displays and completed registrations. The introductory-screen event is sent before an account is created.
4. Data Sharing
To operate the app, we use providers that process data on our behalf or receive data needed for a feature:
- DigitalOcean and database providers: Service hosting and storage of files and records.
- OneSignal and, when configured, Firebase Cloud Messaging: Notification delivery. Notifications may include a title, preview, and message identifiers. OneSignal also receives notification interaction data for delivery and open metrics.
- Agora: Audio and video infrastructure when you participate in a call.
- Metrics endpoint at pieske.com.br: Receives the introductory-screen and registration events described above, as well as normal connection metadata such as IP address.
- Google Analytics: The website's home page loads a Google tag to measure visits. The service may receive browsing data and identifiers according to its configuration and practices.
- Competent authorities: When required by law or a valid request.
5. Data Security
We use HTTPS between the app and our servers, account authentication, and operational access controls. These measures reduce risk but do not guarantee absolute security. Conversations and files are not end-to-end encrypted by default. Military Mode is optional protection for the text of specific messages, subject to the limits described in section 2.2. Anyone with a direct file link may be able to open that file.
- Protection in transit: HTTPS protects traffic between the app and the server.
- Account controls: You can block people and adjust the privacy options available in the app.
6. Your Rights
- Request account deletion in the app or through the account deletion page, without contacting Psiiu first.
- Block and report other users.
- Access, correct, and delete your personal data, subject to applicable exceptions.
- Request data portability.
- Restrict or object to processing where applicable.
7. Delete Your Psiiu Account
You can request account deletion in the app or at psiiu.com/delete-account/. A web request requires email confirmation and the account password. After confirmation, we prevent new access, remove contact and story records from the primary database, and replace profile information with “Deleted account.”
Messages and files shared in conversations may remain available to other participants. The current deletion flow removes the profile image in use but does not guarantee removal of earlier profile images or media files attached to stories or messages from object storage. Anyone with a direct link may open such a file while it remains stored. Copies may also remain temporarily in backups, recipients' devices, and notification providers. Technical identifiers may be retained to preserve the integrity of other people's conversations or meet applicable obligations. Contact contato@pieske.com.br to request further removal or information about retained data; we will respond under applicable law.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be published on this page. Please review it regularly. By continuing to use Psiiu after a change takes effect, you agree to the revised policy.
9. Location Information
You can control precise-location permissions in your device settings. Your IP address may still reveal an approximate location when you use the service.
10. Contact
For questions or requests about your data, email contato@pieske.com.br or visit psiiu.com.
11. Location and International Data Transfers
The service uses hosting and storage infrastructure outside Brazil, including the New York region of the United States. Notification and call providers may also process data in other countries according to their infrastructure. Using Psiiu may therefore involve international data transfers.
12. Data Retention
Automatic message cleanup is enabled. Currently, messages sent by accounts active within the previous 60 days may be removed from the primary database 180 days after creation. For accounts inactive for more than 60 days, messages may be removed 30 days after creation. The process uses the sender's activity and attempts to remove associated attachments from object storage. Some accounts may be excluded from this process; processing failures and copies in backups or on devices may extend data availability. There is no general deletion of all data after 15 days. Other data is kept for as long as needed to operate accounts and conversations, handle requests, maintain security, and meet applicable obligations. Account deletion is described in section 7. Retention criteria also include:
- Operational necessity: Keeping data while it is needed to operate the service.
- Legal obligations: Meeting applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Dispute resolution: Keeping data when needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.
13. Children
Psiiu is intended for people aged 18 or older. We do not intentionally collect data from minors. If we learn that we have collected a minor's data, we will take steps to remove it from our systems.
14. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website may use cookies necessary for its pages to function. The home page also loads Google Analytics to measure visits; this may involve cookies, identifiers, and browsing data. The app uses device identifiers and tokens for authentication and notifications. Integrated providers may process data according to their own policies. Device permissions can be managed in device settings. If other analytics or advertising technologies are enabled, we will update this policy and the store disclosures.
- Website: Cookies may maintain browser preferences and sessions.
- App: Tokens and identifiers help deliver requested features.
You can set your browser to reject cookies or notify you when one is sent.
15. Brazilian Data Protection Law (LGPD)
We are committed to complying with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (Lei nº 13.709/2018). Subject to applicable conditions, it provides rights including:
- Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of personal data, subject to legal exceptions.
- Portability: Request transfer of personal data to another service provider under applicable rules.
- Restriction and objection: Request limits on processing or object to it where applicable.
For LGPD questions or requests, email contato@pieske.com.br or visit psiiu.com.
16. Policy Updates
We may revise this policy to reflect changes in how we handle information. We will publish the new policy on this page, and changes take effect when published.
17. Jurisdiction
For disputes relating to this policy or the terms of use, the courts of Timbó, Santa Catarina, Brazil, are designated, subject to applicable law.
